I tend to find that a maternity session is always a very emotional day for me and my clients. Perhaps it’s something to do with witnessing how a beautiful, tiny, new life is growing inside the mother’s womb. That was definitely the case here – this was such an exciting moment to meet new parents-to-be. The couple was expecting their first child! I often hear from my clients that they can’t wait to see the result of our session to finally share their happiness with the world and officially announce that they’re having a baby. No matter if this is the first, second, or third child, emotions are always enormous. That makes the maternity session such an important thing and a beautiful occasion that I love to capture on my camera.

The photos that I think have the most emotional impact are all the ones that take place when no one is looking at the camera. It stops being a photo session and starts being a private moment between two people that we have a brief glimpse into. That makes it so unique.

You can really see the palpable sense of joy and love between these people. They created this life together, and they can’t wait to get started on his journey. These photos help them to commemorate the occasion, to capture their thoughts and feelings about their future together right now. There was an incredible sense of anticipation, a beautiful feeling of completion, and a connection between two people that went beyond the surface.
